This scenery contains the Mariehamn airport (EFMA) and a couple of important buildings and objects in the city. The city of Mariehamn is the capital of the Åland Islands. Åland is an archipelago province at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea, and it is an autonomous territory under Finnish sovereignty. Åland is a demilitarised zone and the only monolingually Swedish-speaking region in Finland. From Mariehamn, there is a distance of about 160 kilometers to Turku, a coastal city in mainland Finland, and about the same distance to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The Åland islands has two airports – the international airport EFMA in Mariehamn and EFKG on the Kumlinge island in the eastern part of the province.
