Ruhnu Airport (Estonian: Ruhnu lennujaam) is an airport on the island Ruhnu in the middle of the Gulf of Riga off the Estonian west coast. Ruhnu has less than 150 permanent residents. The island is one of the western Estonian islands that have had a very strong swedish influence for centuries up until 1944 when many inhabitants on the islands fled to Sweden because of the Soviet occupation. The island is considered an important bird area and it has a settlement history dating back to 5000 BC. Currently the only scheduled flights are operated from October to April by the Diamond Sky airline between Pärnu (EEPU) and Ruhnu and Kuressaare (EEKE). During the summer months all connections to the island are by boat from Pärnu and Kuressaare. The scenery contains custom modeled buildings and objects, including the Ruhnu tuletorn lighthouse designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1877.
